When we fight and betray each other for the sake of position or the things of this world, it is because we do not trust God with his promises for our lives. We become inpatient and envious of others instead of waiting for the right timing and so we settle for mediocrity, that which doesn’t satisfy instead of that perfect gift.
There’s no need to fight for your slice of the cake. There’s plenty to share and he’s the master baker, the miracle maker. Jesus fed 5000 with 5 loaves and two fish, with plenty left over – 12 baskets!
Can you imagine if people were pushing and fighting to get to the front, thinking ‘I am hungry and there’s only 5 loaves and 2 fishes.’ There was no mention of this. The disciples probably thought he was crazy “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. And Jesus sat them down, broke the bread and fish and distribute them among the crowd. They all ate and were satisfied with 12 baskets of left-overs! (Matt 14:13-21)
“You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.” (James 4:2-3)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jer. 29:11-13)
