If Jesus had a theological debate
With God before he went on the cross
He wouldn’t have decided to die
In our place.
His words were few
“Not my will but thy will be done”
If He had segmented us in different groups,
Considered some worthy and
He wouldn’t have died.
But He gave us all a chance
To be called His children,
His bride, His ambassadors,
To be part of the family of God.
If He had concentrated on how many times
We have sinned,
Then He wouldn’t have consider us
worthy to shed his blood.
We are the Body of Christ
Because we all share in one bread.
His love is big enough for everyone
Covering all our sins,
Extending to every nation, creed,
Religious affiliation, even sexual orientation.
God love breaks and crosses all boundaries,
An all-inclusive love, abounding in mercy and grace;
He knows that we are only dust.
The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. [Psalm 145:8]
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are–yet was without sin.[Hebrews 4:14]
